Summary

A rooftop A/C unit kept tripping its breaker, leaving the property without reliable cooling. We were called in to investigate the source of the electrical issue and determine the extent of the failure.

The Work

Inspected the condensing unit and isolated the compressor from the circuit to stop the breaker from tripping
Bypassed the damaged condenser fan motor control board to test the condenser fan motor
Found the condenser fan motor was locked up and not functioning
Determined that the failed condenser fan motor likely caused the compressor to overheat and lock up

The Outcome

We tracked the electrical problem back to a failed condenser fan motor, which led to compressor damage. By pinpointing the root cause, we helped the owner understand the next steps for repair or replacement.
